Who the hell is this Sam guy? Well, as things happen, I followed a link…and another link, and another — finally ending up on this UK-based auto journalist-in-training's blog.
And you know what? Like everyone else here, he's a great writer:
Top Gear itself seemed to have been in a bit of a age-induced fug itself the past couple of runs — adrift like a badly-welded VW campervan in the English Channel. Where it started as a revolutionary upstart turning the world of telly on its bald head, it has become the institution it once hated, an elder amongst fresher minds.
Sam's bio, in his words:
I am a 25-year-old subject of her Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and I've had, ooh, about 23 jobs since I was 16 — including working on a German farm, a campsite in Croatia, a petrol station in North Wales and for an MP in the British Houses of Parliament. Now though, I'm in fervent training to become an automotive writer on the venerable MA course at Coventry University. I carry sarcasm, wit, lots of opinions and a small bludgeoner on a Swiss army knife wherever I go — be prepared, they say. I love words, cars and adventures — in whatever order.
We're looking forward to see what he has in store for Carchat…
